For about a month and a half I have been exclusively using the Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.4 on my Sony NEX-7. Completely manual m-mount lens that in my opinion is a true gem. I absolutely love shooting with this lens. It’s small, discreet, fast, and the focus ring is buttery smooth. It’s no Leica! but its still amazing.
But this post isn’t about the Voigtlander, i’ll be posting my thoughts on that lens soon, It’s about the transition from a fully manual lens to a fully automatic one. I’ve decided for the next month to pretty much half my focal length, close enough, and shoot with autofocus. I want to see if having autofocus benefits or hinders me in any way when it comes to street photography and composition. Do I still spend the same amount of time composing and figuring out my shot? or do I just point and click and continue on.
Let the photo’s begin!
