It’s Cloudy in 2014… Wait… What?

The way the new Leica 35mm Summicron-M f/2 ASPH renders the out of focus areas, is incredible. I just love it. Even more so in the latest version of the lens which has eleven aperture blades versus the eight that were present in the last couple versions. The last ASPH version I never really enjoyed the bokeh. It was too harsh for my tastes. But the soft, swirly look of the new 35mm Summicron is something incredible. I may decide

Travelogue: The Sign

Today we discuss this particular image, dubbed the sign, and whether or not a sign like this can have any effect in a large city such as New York. Now you may recognize this image from a previous Audio log dubbed “The Sign”. That’s because I’ve talked about it before. But when I listened back to it it just didn’t sound that great. The audio was quiet and muffled so I decided to take another stab at it. This time

(Update) 30 Day’s of B&W

It’s a new year, and time for a new set of projects and challenges. Back in late November I started a 30 Day’s of B&W Challenge. The purpose, or goal, of the project was to help me get back in the groove of shooting images at lunch. What did I learn? Have a listen to the latest episode. But I was surprised to find out I shot more images with my iPhone 6s, than my Leica M262. Click on the

The Leica Travelogue – Dunes

I’m trying something different this time around with the Travelogue. Instead of just showing the picture right away, which you have already seen if you’re viewing the blog, we’re going to paint a mental picture. Hopefully in some way it will translate to the moment I experienced when I was standing in the Sahara Desert in Morocco. I have more to say about the Sahara. More images to show. More experiences to express. But this image is something that has

The Leica Travelogues: Update

I wanted to give an update as to where “The Leica Travelogues” are going. I also have been struggling with gear and the general quality of the episodes I’ve produced. The audio has sounded quiet, muffled and “amateur” in my opinion. The Blue Yeti, which I use, may be a good microphone for some applications but it just isn’t a good mic for me. I feel the tone of my voice gets muffled and my words lost at times. Maybe

On The Street: Diffusion

Altercation’s happen every day on the streets of large cities. Hell even in small ones. But that doesn’t mean that we can all ignore them and turn a blind eye. Sometimes its a good idea to step in and diffuse a situation. Or talk it through with all the parties involved. Even better, its good to see someone actually having the balls to do it. Have a listen. 30 Days of B&W

I’ve decided to start a B&W photo a day for 30 days challenge. Ever since I’ve arrived back in Toronto I’ve been a little lazy with shooting. I figured setting a challenge for myself would help me get back in the grove of things. I’m also not limiting myself to any particular medium. So you’ll see some photos shot on the iPhone. Some from the Leica M262 and some from my film Leica, if I so happen to need to

Travelogue: Marrakesh Souk

Once we finally arrived in the Souk in Marrakesh we began to explore. Down the narrow alleys with tourists lining the shops and store owners rallying people. This city is alive. Even at 11pm. Crazy. While browsing the shops you have to pay attention to countless motorbikes blindly coming around corners. This is one of the many pictures I took here. Have a listen and feel free to leave your feedback or comments below. TW
