On The Street: Diffusion

Altercation’s happen every day on the streets of large cities. Hell even in small ones. But that doesn’t mean that we can all ignore them and turn a blind eye. Sometimes its a good idea to step in and diffuse a situation. Or talk it through with all the parties involved. Even better, its good to see someone actually having the balls to do it. Have a listen. 30 Days of B&W

I’ve decided to start a B&W photo a day for 30 days challenge. Ever since I’ve arrived back in Toronto I’ve been a little lazy with shooting. I figured setting a challenge for myself would help me get back in the grove of things. I’m also not limiting myself to any particular medium. So you’ll see some photos shot on the iPhone. Some from the Leica M262 and some from my film Leica, if I so happen to need to

Kodak 5222 B&W Cinema Film

Recently I picked up some spools of Cinema film and Kodak 5222 was one of them. I’ve been eyeballing this film for a while but all my “sources” didn’t seem to stock it. I finally managed to luck out when I purchased some film from Reel Good Film in California. Thanks Guys!! I have to say I’m quite impressed. It’s exactly what I hoped for. It’s essentially Tri-X 400, but with it’s own unique contrast and highlight ratio. This leaves

I tried shooting landscape when I first started photography years ago and felt I wasn’t very good at it nor did I have much patience for it. I don’t feel like any

Urban Practice

One day on my way to the train I saw this guy practicing outside the TD Centre building in the late evening. I was floored with what he could do on his bike. I snapped a few pictures and stood around to watch. I was expecting security to run out and chase him away but oddly they were standing inside watching with the same amazed look I had on my face. Toronto, Canada (August 2014) Leica M7 + Leica 90mm

Arista Premium 400

Recently I picked up a couple rolls of Arista Premium 400 from a local store. I was curious how it differed from Kodak T-Max 400 and Kodak Tri-X 400 and whether it was a suitable alternative as it was significantly cheaper than rolls of Kodak here in Canada. The verdict?? Not so great. The contrast of the film is pretty good but the latitude in the highlights don’t even come close to T-Max 400. Also the grain structure is quite
