Service Station

I’ve been sitting on these images for a while now. Letting them perk, to see if they interest me months later. I shot these back in September when I was in Ireland filming Vikings Season 3. One of the weekends I had free I took a trip to Northern Ireland to see The Giant’s Causeway. On my way there I drove through Cloughmills, on the A26, and saw this service station, pub and motel completely abandoned. I pulled over on the way back to Dublin and photographed it both with my M7 using Kodak T-Max 400 and on my M9. All the images in this posted are shot on film and I’ll post the images on the M9 at a later date.

This post is connected to an earlier one I did about the Financial & Economic Decay I was seeing in Ireland. Abandoned structures in the middle of small towns and even within the Dublin city centre being slowly reclaimed by nature while the owners are figuring out what to do with them.

My goal still remains the same as before and as I travel to new cities, and even within my hometown of Toronto, I’ll continue to photograph these buildings and evolve it eventually into a project.

Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments below.
